Čísla v angličtine — základy

Anglické číslovky sú jedným z pilierov jazyka: bez nich nepoviete cenu, telefónne číslo, vek ani adresu. Dobrou správou je, že len čo zvládnete čísla 1 až 20 a desiatky 20 až 100, ostatné čísla poskladáte sami podľa jednoduchého vzoru.

Čísla 1 – 20

Zložené čísla tvoríme jednoducho: desiatka + pomlčka + jednotka:

99 — ninety-nine

Stovky a tisícky

100 — one hundred
200 — two hundred
350 — three hundred and fifty
1 000 — one thousand
1 500 — one thousand five hundred alebo fifteen hundred
10 000 — ten thousand
1 000 000 — one million

Pozor: hundred a thousand nemajú v angličtine pri čítaní čísel množné číslo: hovoríme two hundred, nie two hundreds.

Tipy & triky

Zákerné číslovky: forty (nie fourty, stráca sa u z four). Fifteen a fifty znejú podobne, ale líšia sa dôrazom: fifTEEN vs. FIFty. Rovnako thirTEEN vs. THIRty. Pri telefónnych číslach Briti čítajú 0 ako oh, Američania ako zero.
